The Reunion

“The Oasis live experience is unlike anything else. The roar that greets them as they step on stage. A set full of wall-to-wall classics. The spine-tingling sensation of being in a crowd singing back every word. And especially the charisma, spark and intensity that only comes when Liam and Noel Gallagher are on stage together.”

Introduction

Liam and Noel Gallagher are no strangers to a bad word and have had plenty of altercations in their colourful lives. The Mancunian brothers whose out-of-control eyebrows and hair, wow millions of fans in their group phase as Oasis and solo careers as Beady Eye and High Flying Birds, produce of music that encapsulates Manchester life. The chants of “Wonderwall”, “Don’t Look Back in Anger” and “Champagne Supernova”, ring out in many a pub, karaoke bar and football stadium. The headwear and fashion adorning the grand surroundings of Knebworth and the various concert venues across the UK. Unique sounds and vocals that enrich and enthuse, homegrown but internationally loved.

The Rift

Oasis split up in 2009 after a backstage fracas at the Rock en Seine in Paris. The Britpop band who were invited to a celebration party when Tony Blair’s New Labour won the general election with a landslide victory in 1997, have remained at loggerheads since they split 15 years ago with Liam vocal ever since, saying the band should never have split up in the first place. Divided brothers are never great for creativity and when an argument simmers, the end result can be years of crossfire, insults and bad blood.

Yet they say time can be a great healer and with an announcement expected imminently of a reunion, all eyes will be on the social media feeds of the brothers. It’s not to say that the music of their separate bands hasn’t been good but that wow factor has been missing for far too long. With concerts rumoured to be staged at Wembley and Heaton Park, there seem to be many reasons behind the two getting back, divorce, money and peer pressure being just a few. It is not clear from the Oasis X account what exactly this reunion will consist of but this thawing of relations seems to be paying dividends.

The brothers may be joined by a number of possible band members including Gem Archer, Chris Sharrock, Bonehead and Andy Bell. What is definite is that a New Definitely Maybe cover has been released to celebrate the 30th-anniversary shot at guitarist Bonehead’s house in Manchester – but this time reworked, with the band members removed from the room.

The Big Announcement
