Introduction
It always makes me smile when I hear about new and exciting talent in the sport I have adored for nearly fourty years, snooker. After being nominated, the latest addition to the tour is the naturally talented, 14-year-old Polish snooker player Michal Szubarczyk. I tip this player for great things after earning the right to a card with excellent performances at the recent ESBA European Championships, impressively winning the under-16 and under-18 events. He also reached the final of the men’s tournament, dropping just two frames in victories over Maksim Kostov, Daan Leyssen, Chris Peplow and Nicolas Mortreux.
Talented
Although Poland has a large snooker fan base, we don’t have that many players coming out of this vibrant country. Kacper Filipiak, Antoni Kowalski, and Adam Stefanów spring to mind, but we haven’t seen any television in Poland since the days of the PTC events. Should Michal accept the nomination, he will be the youngest-ever player on the main tour. Frame. Szubarczyk, the Polish U-16 pool champion and the reigning Polish junior champion at Snooker Shout Out. A player who could soon be playing the likes of Judd Trump, Kyren Wilson and Ronnie O’Sullivan.
