“I am bricking it”.
Shaun Murphy
Introduction
Sometimes you have to step out of your comfort zone and grab the bull by both horns. Well, that’s exactly what Shaun Murphy and his good friend and fellow podcaster, Phil Seymour, best known for his MC work, will be doing at the end of March 26 to be precise. These brave souls will join a member of the Red Devils and ascend 15,000 feet into the sky and then take part in a charity sky-dive to raise awareness and money for the charity Future Pathway which works with former military personnel and sportspersons to retrain new careers. A jump that will take place over Salisbury Plains.
“If us jumping out of a plane helps a former sports person, or a former military person, someone who has dedicated their lives to a career that is no longer there for them, then it’s worth it.”
Shaun Murphy
All in a Good Cause
I was first made aware of this brave venture by John McDonald who many of you will remember as being an MC for sports such as darts, boxing and snooker. John who set up the charity and who is a good friend of Shaun’s approached Murphy to see if he was willing to take up the challenge. Who could refuse such a charismatic person especially when it was for such a worthy cause? The jump itself is equivalent to travelling three miles, a distance that you wouldn’t take much notice of whilst in a car but this is a totally different ball game and involves a parachute and an aeroplane at a relatively great height.
No sooner has Shaun Murphy made this jump, back on Terra Firma, Shaun will have to travel to the Duelbits Tour Championship which starts the next day in Hull at the Bonus Arena. This tournament follows the WST Classic and is open to the top 8 players from the one-year list with an attractive winner’s prize of £150,000. Murphy currently ranks as 2nd on the list. All being well, Shaun who has come into form in recent months after finishing runner-up at the Welsh Open leading to his first title in three years, the Players Championship. A high talented who may floating through the air near you soon.
