“This is a magnificent victory for the American people that will allow us to make America great again.”
Donald Trump
Introduction
Here we go again! After four years of Joe Biden and his failing mind, the USA sees the return of the 54th President as the 56th. Donald Trump is a showman who promises and delivers very little. Voter apathy won him the election, not his popularity. You will find little love for him outside the MAFA army of supporters if you speak to many who voted for this billionaire from Queen’s. Yet Trump addressed domestic issues, such as the fact that ordinary Americans care about the economy, health care, and immigration. Drill down into the number of rally speeches that Donald made during the election and remove the mountain of insults for Kamala Harris and others, and you will find a series of half-baked ramblings. A man who promises revolutionary change but only wants to be the most powerful in the world. Someone who Nigel Farage wants to cosy up to, and other world leaders have to offer their congratulations through gritted teeth.
Donald Trump has had two failed assassination attempts, a string of impeachment trials and has been accused of sexual misdemeanours by several women. Yet somehow, he survived it all and gave the Republican Party one of their most significant victories, turning the American map red and seizing the Senate’s control from the Democrats—the complete opposite of a presidential race too close to call. Yet Trump found that wound in the Democrats’ side from a weak Joe Biden, who should have never stood for a second term, and Kamala Harris, who had very little substance and never really spelt out what she would do differently, choosing instead to carry on the Biden mantra.
Broken Politics
America is in a precarious position and risks four more years of utter turmoil. With a new President not being sworn into office until January 2025, the White House has a temporary hiatus. With hundreds of appointments required to form a new administration, lessons should have been learned from the first time he was in power, but even when he assumes the role, many of those who have worked with him in the past say the billionaire has no fixed way of working and his inner circle is chaotic.
Yet this chaotic mishmash of so-called politicians promises to fix all the problems that the country throws at them. A lie that has been sold to voters to buy their votes. Yet Trump is no saviour; he wants to create a legacy. He is a propaganda magnet who spins his line that everyone is against him, the world is a whole of fake news, and news channels are the ultimate enemy. Trump gets a negative press because he deserves it. He is a misogynist who surrounds himself with men, believers in his cause and the odd sprinkle who don’t fall out of line and wear clothes that look like they have come out of an episode of Dynasty.
Every swing state, including Philadelphia, fell to Trump. Latino and female voters have given their support to Trump, swayed by hollow promises. That’s despite Donald promising that he will flush out illegal immigrants with the most extensive programme of deportation that the USA has seen in recent years. An act that may use obscure laws, military funds and law enforcement to enact. A master of the pomp of the circus ring, leaning on his friendship with Elon Musk, Trump steered a chaotic campaign to victory. A 78-year-old who makes it up as he goes along and doesn’t care who he upsets along the way. A man who is far too close to China and Russia and is prepared to put the dollar signs of trade over opposing views. A mantle that he wants to hand over to his running mate, JD Vance, when he is ready.
Uncertain Times
Although a storming of Capitol Hill again is unlikely, nobody knows what Trump will do daily. He is a live cannon and far too often speaks his vicious mind. A man who loves a photo opportunity or being on camera but doesn’t know much about what he will do about whatever the latest crisis is. Trump is a maverick who loves himself and very few others. A businessman who lives in the guise of being a politician when he knows about American politics: he wings it and hopes that it works. Yet, in a 24-hour media age, everything comes out in the wash, and Donald Trump may not last as long as the political spin cycle that faces him. The Democrats will have to lick their wounds quickly and find someone who can face off this political beast.
