Introduction

I love writing about inspiring people and so I felt compelled to write a piece about an Asian lady who literally chose to make her childhood dreams come true. She is, of course, Alisha Singh. Perhaps the sign came that great things were to bestowed on Alisha when she was merely a tiny baby. A family gathering for her 1st birthday led to none other than Alex Higgins coming around and holding this beautiful baby in his arms. As the eyes of innocence met those of genius, this chance meeting spoke volumes, firing the starting gun for a truly amazing journey in life.

My daughters come from a Gujarati background so I know how important the concept of the family and a good career is in the Asian community. Alisha Singh is no exception, a woman who seized the moment and held on tight for whatever this whirlwind journey may bring. A highly intelligent and confident woman, Alisha graduated with a BA Honours in English Literature and used this life skill to pave the way for what she wanted to achieve in life.

Beauty and Snooker

Alisha quickly shot to prominence, working in some of the most prestigious beauty pageants, organising and presenting events such as the Miss Great Britain and the Miss World Tourism finals. However, her true passion like mine from childhood was snooker. Inspired by watching the snooker greats of her youth such as Alex Higgins, Steve Davis, Jimmy White and Ronnie O’Sullivan, Singh longed to have a presenting job in this thrilling world of the green baize.

She didn’t have to wait that long because I first came across this inspirational lady doing some green screen auditions in 2021. Watching the videos on her posts on Twitter, I was intrigued to know more about this lady. Suddenly like a shooting star, she appeared before our eyes. She presented the promo for the 2021 Cazoo World Grand Prix and flew to Antalya for the maiden outing of the Turkish Masters to host the event. So successful was the brilliant work that she was quickly asked by World Snooker to also work on the 2022 Gibraltar Open.

Alisha has also made a very successful step in interviewing a number of people in snooker. These include interviews with the acclaimed snooker coach Barry Stark who works with among others Kyren Wilson, Ding Junhui and Jimmy White. She also created a video to give snooker fans a guided tour around the Crucible in Sheffield for the 2022 World Snooker Championship. Stamping her own confidence on her interviewing brand, she has created her own channel @alishasinghtv. Having watched all of these videos, I have been highly impressed by how she makes it looks so easy. Singh is a natural who clearly does her groundwork and research before approaching anyone for an interview. Alisha lights up the room with her smile and twinkle in her eyes. A natural talent that puts any interviewee instantly at ease. She thrives in front of the camera, a wallflower that is passionate about connecting with an audience through the medium of a camera lens.

Alisha Singh also recently appeared in the ITV4 programme, Target Sport Stars Fishing Championship which also included Lorraine Winstanley, a professional darts player, Owen Coyne, a former professional Rugby Union player and Steve Collett, a professional angler. A show that invited 31 competitors to take part in the 10th-anniversary edition. An annual event that supports the Willow Foundation. She has done interview work in darts and football.

A Bright Future

Alisha Singh recently got married, showing some photographs of lovely and colourful traditional Indian wedding on social media. She also recently returned from an eight-week trip to Asia including Thailand and Vietnam where she was doing some presenting work. Last spotted behind the scenes of the recent Masters at Alexandra Palace, Alisha is definitely on a successful career path and I am sure that she will be involved in many exciting media projects in the near future.
